WHY IS SOUTHWOLD SO POPULAR IN SPRING

Southwold is a seaside town in the county of Suffolk, Eastern England kept afloat by tourism. The towns’ pretty period cottages, independent shops, cafes, pubs and beaches are a constant draw for visitors. It is constantly at the top of the bucket list for a British Coastal resort. The main draw of the town is probably the beach, it’s charming, classic British Coastal and flanked by gorgeous beach huts along the promenade. It has also received merits for keeping high standards (for cleanliness and amenities).

For many holidayers, it is a easy trip by car, or train/cab into the town - and then you go solely by foot. In spring, the temperature is just warming up and sun is setting later, you can enjoy getting outdoors with your partner, babies and furbabies and stay out longer. It takes time to prepare for the adventure to come, wrapping up warm gathering the right accessories (wellies, hat & a good flask!) but it is worth it. Southwold’s town is like a big adventure ground waiting to be explored.

As many know my favourite meal is brunch!and in spring, it is the best time of year to have your break alfresco. It really doesn’t have to be elaborate - even a chair and balancing a plate and cuppa on your lap is good enough! The morning dew mixed with sea spray is just so relaxing and good for you.

The evening glow happens around 5-6pm in Spring, and over at Number 5, it just gets so magical. Sit back, enjoy the surrounding marshes, the noisy beach and embrace the slowness of the evening. For me, I put on a few tea lights, start up the outdoor bath and put something in the fridge to chill. I start the fire pit, take out the comfy cushions and snacks! Watch the sunset. Just divine.

Alternately it’s the perfect time for a walk into town or the harbour for a meal. So easy and right - a spring break is pure delight.

Number 5 southwold is a beach side cottage that sleeps 4, just across from beach. Inside you are welcomed with a living/dining room with a log burner, a well equipped kitchen, shower room, and 2 bedrooms (a double and a twin). The large gardens are enclosed and surround the cottage giving you total privacy and nice space to play. There is also a delightful outdoor tub available on request.
