A glorious space to escape, a holiday cottage in Southwold, Suffolk. Number 5 feels peaceful and restorative. It is a great escape from the business of life.

What makes us special?

We wanted to find a house on the coast in spitting distance to the sea, so we could pop up to coast and be right on the beach, no time wasted. What we received is real joy.We fell in love with the natural light filtering through the large windows, the high ceilings, the original features - this is an original seaside cottage. It required a few light touches to make it feel like 'home', and we have achieved that.

Another plus was this location. Number 5 is across the street from the beach! The harbour, high street, and independent shops, restaurants, pubs are about a 5 min stroll away (or less!). And the nearby circular gardens, coastal paths through the marshes are on the doorstep too. With 3 children, we needed a practical and functional holiday home - close to good-quality amenities.

The garden is large and incredibly special -if you have a pooch or busy kiddos like mine! This is the place to spread out and make wonderful memories. We return every few months, to Number 5 and can see how much fun it is having the space outdoors.

In the main bedroom, the styling here is simple, luxury and clean, allowing the large framed windows and views to the garden to take centre stage. I wanted it to retain that feeling in indulgence, and luxury - and let the elements on the outside do its thing.

My favourite and most recent update in the living room, the new log-burning fireplace and 5-seater sofa. We love having our family friends over for fun & games, food and more - this was a perfect decision.
